Receiving E-Mail Notifications

Forum can send notifications about recent additions or modifications to entries to you through e-mail. To receive e-mail notifications, your registration information must include your e-mail address.

To receive e-mail notifications, do the following:

1. View the summit page.

2. Log in, if you have not already.

3. Click on the linked name of the docshare forum about which you want to receive e-mail notifications.

4. When viewing the top folder of the forum, in the upper-left corner of the page, click on the More button, as follows:

5. Click on the Set Notification link.

6. In the "Notification for..." form, click one of the following check boxes:

   Use Forum Default E-mail Notification

   Checking this box indicates that you receive e-mail notifications about activity in this forum only if your administrator turns on this feature. (It is turned on by default.)

   Enable E-Mail Notification (Digest Style)

   Checking this box indicates that, periodically, according to a schedule set by your administrator, you receive one e-mail message with summaries of all activities in the forum since the last time you received a notification. This setting overrides settings made by your administrator.

   Enable E-Mail Notification (Individual Message Style)

   Checking this box indicates that, periodically, according to a schedule set by your administrator, you receive an e-mail message for every new or altered entry. Your e-mail notification also includes any files attached to the forum entry. This setting overrides settings made by your administrator.

   Also, you can use this form to indicate whether you want notifications sent to the My News section of your Forum Tracker, or whether you want to turn off e-mail notification for this forum.

7. Click on the OK button.

E-mail notifications contain links to the new or modified entry. When you click on the link in the e-mail message, it invokes your browser (if it is not currently running) and displays the entry.
